I follow
Fine Homebuilding on Facebook, and occasionally come across some good information.
Yesterday, they had a post about
Flared Cedar Shingles, which will really come in handy when I redo the shingles on the top half of my house.
I really love the look.

That is pretty cool. I have always admired the curved surfaces on Queen Anne homes, and if it ever works out for me to restore one (i.e. I finish renovating our current home, and my wife isn't completely against starting over living through a construction zone another one), I'll likely be doing some curved shingle work.
I love the woven corners, and wouldn't have thought about using a trim router and flush-cut bit, but it looks like a great idea!
Just wish they shot a video while they did it. Sounds like they had issues when installing, but glad they put that in there though.
I like it that pros make mistakes too.
I like it!
I think the biggest difference with pros, is they don't have to live in their mistakes, or stare at them every day and obsess about it. I'd wager that the average person wouldn't even notice most of my "mistakes" (which are often design/proportioning issues) unless I pointed them out. Am I the only one who points out what I'm less than pleased with on my completed projects?
Ha-I do the same exact thing!
